The Coakham Fallers Club 2006 - 2007 Season

Remember - our spys are everywhere - so better to own up and pay your £2!!

Your chance for fame and glory - or perhaps more appropriately, mud and a sore ego. There is a £2 fine per fall which will go into a kitty for the quarry supper at the end of the season. The person with the highest number of falls will receive a prize (possibly a pair of sticky bum breeches or a riding lesson).

There will also be a prize for the most spectacular fall - and perhaps, the best confession!

CHAMPION
Master Ruth Webb
A new joint leader: A fall the Children's Farm, Beckley, and then Merlin put his foot in a rabbit hole as we negotiated some gorse, at Street Farm, just slipping over in the walk and then a fall at Nurstead - so her competitive bid for the championship is gathering pace!! And now a fall over her last fence as Field Master before moving to Australia, at Bookers Farm, having jumped some huge fences, she fell at a two foot rail puts her in the joint lead! owes £6 4

His 11.2 stubbled on landing over a jump with ditch resulting in him falling, only to have his hand catch in his reins and drag him face down through a muddy field for 20+ metres. Samuel had a second fall at the Bedgebury meet - still sporting an attractive graze where Daisy accidentally stood on his cheek - fortunately just a glancing blow. "A big thank you to all those to helped me after my tumble on Sunday.  Thanks and apologies to Alex, Caroline and Jenny who scraped me off the floor after Larry had put his foot down a rabbit hole and catapulted me off at full gallop.

Although I have no memory of it, I apparently was helped back on, said "I'm fine" and galloped off and left them standing there !   I've been told that I then went on to finish the line including the hedge at the end - don't remember that either ! My first memory is of being walked to a car where Jessica Steven's mum, Susan, and Jane Bramwell looked after me so well until the ambulance came.

After being put in a horribly claustrophibic head brace and taken to Ashford Hospital, X-rays showed nothing broken and Tony and Holly came to get me and we called by Hole Park for Holly to drive the lorry home.  Big thanks also to Lyndsay Bramwell for riding Larry back to the meet and sorting him out and to Jenny for taking him home in her lorry.

I've been so touched by all the calls and messages - the Coakham Hunt really is like a family.  I am feeling a lot better, although still a little giddy and sick at times and the neck is quite sore.   Still, pretty lucky really and lucky that Larry didn't hurt himself at all - what a good horse to look after me like he did !"

Regards,
Sally
